Predicting “what’s hot and what’s not” is critical when it comes to design. As we start 2017, Beth Almond, ASID, color consultant for the LuciteLux® acrylic brand, shares a few of her thoughts on color trends.
For those who have a soft spot for soft colors, 2017 is your year. Neutrals no longer mean boring or safe. The layers of complexity created by these understated shades are worthy of the attention they’ll receive in the coming months.
Neutral colors are infused in interior spaces to balance the environment. According to Almond, get ready to see taupes take off and a little bit of blush pink.
Limited Days for Gray
For years, gray has been on trend. We’ll still see plenty of shades of gray this year, however, the popularity of the achromatic color will soon start to wane.
Marble and Brass
We predicted that marble and brass would shine in 2016 and both will continue feeling the love this year. According to interior designer Young Huh, marble and brass will dominate in 2017, particularly in kitchens and baths.
Other colors are singing the blues after color company Pantone® named Greenery as its 2017 color of the year. Greenery, described as being a “tangy yellow-green”, will be the dominant shade in fashion and design for the next 12 months – in a nod towards the turbulent global political climate.
